Part of the great commission of our Lord was stated in Matthew 28:18 – 20…Then Jesus came close to them and said, “All authority has been given to me. Now wherever you go, make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit….” 

It is our great pleasure, as His sons and daughters, to fulfill His request and immerse His new believers and friends in water, into the triune God and disciple them into His kingdom family and ways.

Preaching and teaching about God and His word is, as His believers, our mandate and honour. The early believers were encouraged to do the same, as is spoken about in the book of Acts. After Jesus had been crucified and resurrected, the emboldened and faithful believers who witnessed this, began preaching and teaching the same throughout Jerusalem.

Quite suddenly, they began to experience persecution from various authorities, so they prayed fervently to God…”Empower us, as your servants to speak the word of God freely and courageously. Stretch out your hand of power through us to heal and to move in signs and wonders by the name of your holy servant, Jesus!” Acts 4: 29 – 30. Here at Encounter Jesus, we practice the same. 

Worshipping God through praise and skillful musicians is a tremendous pleasure and delight to both God and us, who as the Psalmist says, is exalted upon the praises of His people, Psalm 22: 3. Come and enjoy exuberant singing and praises to God, our glorious creator, redeemer and friend! “Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!” Psalm. 34:3. And in David’s final Psalm 150, he declares, “…Praise him with trumpet sound: Praise him with harp and lyre. Praise him with timbrel and dancing; Praise him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise him with loud cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” 

Healing is very near and dear to God’s heart. Throughout the Bible He reveals this time after time, by healing individuals and promises to do so even with the nations, 2 Chronicles 7:14; Revelation 22:2. In Isaiah 53, an account of Jesus’ own life and death on the cross, it’s explained that His sufferings were for our healing and salvation. He paid the ultimate cost to rescue us from oppression, death and all the crippling effects of sin. Verse 5 says, “…But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging, we are healed.

In the gospels He lead the disciples in illustrating healing, extending it towards everyone and commissioning them to do the same, “These 12 Jesus sent out with the following instructions…As you go, proclaim this message: The kingdom of heaven has come near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 10: 5 – 8. We endeavor to do the same.
